Find your own use cases
Now that you know the symptoms that give you early sings about the need of training and development, the first step is to identify your specific use cases.
Here are some generic use cases which might be applicable to you :
1) Channel Partner Onboarding :
You have huge expansion plans. You need to onboard franchises/dealers/distributors in next few months. You want to train them about Products (Features, Comparison, Offers/Incentive Plans/Ongoing promotions), Processes (Production, Delivery, Quality) & Service/Support.
There should be confirmation that the people are trained.2
2) Customer Support :
Customer is GOD for you and you want all your customers to be happy. The best way to keep them happy is excellent customer support/service. You want to train all your customer support/maintenance/service staff so that they make customers happy. Always. You have blue collar as well as young employees who needs to be trained about the variety of products you have, answer customer queries and resolve complaints and troubleshoot easily. You also need to talk in your employees’ language to train them.
3) Sales Onboarding :
You have many products varieties and with those varieties comes the multiple types of promotions you conduct. Your sales agents need not only to understand those products but also have knowledge of your pricing/promotions. You not only need to train them on regular basis but they should also access your product/pricing information on field whenever needed. All your on field product information support should be easily accessible anytime.
4) Customer Onboarding :
You have product which is a bit complex to use. Unless your customers know how to use it, they will not be able to stick to it. Your existing product manuals are mundane. You not only need to train your customers about how to use the product but also collect feedback about their experiences.
5) New Joinee Onboarding :
You are growing rapidly. You have regular intake of new joinees. What you need is more efficient way to make them billable as fast as possible.
6) Change Management :
You have recently upgraded your organization. It might be with a new ERP or a completely new org structure or a drastic change in your positioning of your products. You need to quickly and efficiently train all your employees about this all important new change.
7) Certification : Compliance/Security :
You have some compliances to be followed. It is a routine certification which every employee working in your organization must undergo at regular intervals. It being a routine thing, you want to automate it.
8) Lead Nurturing :

The problem you face is even after recruitment, you need to train your new joinees on specific skill sets and that increases time to make them productive. In addition, you find that people are leaving because they are, either not interested or find it difficult to grasp, the technology you are working with. You actually want a ready made talent which has already shown interest in your technology and also passed some tests and earned certification. Unfortunately, no one else is having subject courses. If you create such courses and award certificates to paid students, you will not only build a quality talent pipeline but also earn a handsome revenue from the same.
The idea in listing down above use cases is to help you identify the wide potential how trainings can solve your problems. In summary do following now to identify use cases specific to your organization :
1) Write down the symptoms (if possible rate them and prioritize them)
2) For each symptom, identify the stakeholders inside your organization
3) Refer the above ideas, brainstorm on what more you can do and list down your specific use cases for your organization
